Bamboo Forest in Winter

I have bamboo forest. It is beautiful. I love it. I like to take its photos because it shows different faces every season. I took photos of the bamboo forest the other day. I will show you several of them.

"Morning in the Bamboo Forest"
This is my favorite one. I am sure you can feel fresh and clear air in the bamboo forest.

"Bamboo Forest in the Sun"
I usually hate to take the sun in the picture I take, but at this time I failed to get rid of it. I don't think you will mind, won't you?

Test Work : "Bamboo Forest in Winter"
This is one of the "Digital Photo Art" I named. I trimmed four sides of the photo and intensified the vividness of the color plus blue to express winter. How do you like it?

"Bare Trees 1"
It is not so bright inside the bamboo forest. So when you look out of it, you can see much brighter scene out there. Of course, deciduous trees already have no leaves in winter. However they have beautifull shapes.

"Bare Trees 2"
I cannot tell you what these bare trees are. But they interested me greatly -- their color and shape.

Shinto Shrine

Japanese people go and worship at a shrine or temple to celebrate a New Year. We have several temples and shrines in this town. This Shinto Shrine is in the woods of Japanese cedar. It was evening when I visited here to take photos.

"Dance Mai"

This is one of my brush works and the one I first designed as a new art. I call it "Brush Art". I believe that I am a pioneer of this new field.
"Mai" is a chinese chracter. It means "dance". I tried to express their dancing in brush. Brush handwriting in Japan has a long and proud tradition and history. I tried to interject this feeling of tradition into my brush work for you to comprehend its true meaning. I trust I have succeeded to convey my feelings to you.

A festival of building a bonfire of bamboo with bangs

Dondoya Fire

We have several festivals of the year in the village. Among them "Dondoya--building a bonfire of bamboo with bangs" is the biggest event. We had "Dondoya" Jan.11. In the morning about 10 men gathered in front of my bamboo forest to cut down bamboo and to carry them to an empty lot. It was planted to start at 1:00 pm, but the weather report said that there was 40 percent chance of rain in Aso. This aria is located at the south side of Mt. Aso, an active volcano, that is 711 yards above sea level. So We decided to start earlier and set fire to the bamboo at 11:00 am. The bonfire burned up with bangs. I stand by the fire. My daughter took the photo.

Dondoya Barbecue and Gappo-Sake

After the bonfire of bamboo burns down we always barbecue and warm sake(Japanese rice wine) in the bamboo cut short. Oh, this is outstanding! You should come and try it. The bamboo sap makes sake taste much better. People call the sake "Gappo-sake". Because of the sound of sake in the long bamboo. This was the first time for me to have tried "Gappo-sake". And barbecued chicken was delicious! Of course, Ladies and children enjoyed it very much.

I deleted the article by mistake.

We had a heavy snow not only here in Sugeo but also most of Japan on Ja.13th. I posted an article about that with five photos the other day, but I deleted the whole article by mistake when I tried to change one of the photos. So today I am going to post the photos again. Please enjoy them.

As you know, I am trying to be a profesional photographer. Of course I like really clear digital photographs. However I also want to pocess photos much more to work on.
Some photographers might say those are not photos. In that case I will call it 'Digital Photo Art'. But you don't know what it is, do you? Ok. Now I will show you some photos above as example.
